Conrad, LilBit and I decided we'd like to add a kitty to the family. After consulting our lease, which stated all kitties must be neutered/spayed and declawed, and the internet, which said older cats do better with young kids than kittens do, we started hunting for just the right cat. We found her through a local rescue organization called PAWS. Her name is Carmella, she's 7 years old, and she's just about the sweetest cat ever. She came to us already spayed and already declawed (not something I'd ever do to a cat myself, so since our lease required it, we only looked at rescue cats who'd had it done by a previous owner).

We've had her a week now. Conrad does have some cat allergies, so we invested in a few air purifiers and a good vacuum, and Carmella will be getting weekly baths. So far so good! :), I gave Carmella her first bath on Wednesday, and although she didn't like it, she was really sweet about it. It definitely was not the horror-fest I thought it would be.

Here's lots of pictures of her that I took tonight: http://www.silvanon.com/CarmellaPics/Carmella_9-23-10/

*laughs* For some reason the light that blinks when the camera's about to take a picture made her feel like meowing, so I ended up with several silly open-mouthed ones.
