[Why hello there, video, you have come to life. On your little PNG screens, you can observe a young purple-haired teen with a choppy haircut sitting against the bark of what looks to be a very large tree any lumberjack would stake his saw to have. Cradled in his arms is a Metapod, and he is smiling cheerfully into the camera.]Greetings, fellow ( Read more... )

[Oh gosh, Skarmory thinks that Metapod look absolutely delicious. It's just staring intently at it for the entire video. Winona... doesn't even notice that yet. Wonderful. She's waving cheerfully!]

Hello, young Bugsy of Azalea! Is the PNG not one of the most useful contraptions? I never believed I could keep in contact with such foreign regions in this manner, let alone with text. I am very glad I got one to see people like yourself from regions such as Johto. I hope I will see more of you!

... Oh! It would be helpful if I introduced myself. I am Winona of Fortree City, Hoenn. [She curtsies.] It is a pleasure!

[... Winona then reels forward as Skarmory dives for the PNG, trying to eat the tasty bug on the other side.]

Skarmory!! Calm yourself--!

[SSSSSSSHHHHTTT. Static for a few minutes. The feed then returns with Winona's hair looking a bit disheveled, and Skarmory nowhere to be seen. It was presumably in its Poke Ball.]

Ah, I'm terribly sorry! Skarmory just can't seem to control itself at times. It is one of my... feistier Pokemon, unfortunately. [Awkward laugh.]

Th-that's okay! I'm pretty used to it by now... Luckily for us, Skarmory's attack missed. Hahahaha!

You said you're the gym leader of Fortree, didn't you? Ahh, I loved Fortree City..! [Bing! He's excited now.] I decided to take a trip just a while ago, and I went exploring through parts of the Hoenn region. It was a big step for me since I've only traveled through the Johto and Kanto regions, but I'm sure glad I pushed my boundaries. Fortree City was by far my favorite. The trees were tall and it was a bug Pokemon paradise. The idea of living in a tree house like they have there sounds like my kinda thing. I'd probably have no problem at all adapting to that kind of life. Shame I didn't meet you while I was there.

Bug Pokemon do seem to be very attracted to the city! We see many Volbeat and Illumise at times. Their dance is nearly as lovely as the birds in the wind, what with their illuminating bodies. [She thinks they're so pretty!]

Fortree is very expansive, and perhaps the most unique city in all of Hoenn. I've lived here ever since I was a little girl, and I would not change that for the world. [Siiiigh~]

Perhaps if you were to come back one day, we could meet!

You don't have to worry about me coming back; I HAVE to come back. The bugs were everywhere! It's the perfect environment, so I don't know who can blame them. And yes, especially Volbeat and Illumise. The only ones observable in Johto are the specimens stocked for the bug-catching contests and safari zone expeditions. You don't find them anywhere else locally, not even in Kanto. I was charmed by the intricate patterns of their courtship dance in their natural habitat. I tried taking pictures, but my camera wasn't so good at capturing night shots... ahaha, I should invest in something with better quality lens. Maybe videos would be better?

Ah, well. I'll just have to watch it again sometime.

We do have very many bugs. You would also take an interest in the Nincada on the outskirts of Rustboro City, I believe! They are very common bugs, but very interesting in their style. Some of them have such loose skins, too. O, how I ever wonder, dear Nincada, what mysteries you hold.

[Spoilers: LOL SHEDINJA]

I do enjoy photography, but I'm sadly not very experienced. I would suppose a video may be more effective to catch them in the moment rather than a still frame!

I'm familiar with Nincada, too! They're some of the most fascinating Pokemon out there, and I would say the number one reason can be attributed to their evolution process. Did you know they wait out the majority of their lives underground, awaiting the day they evolve into Ninjask? It can take up to 20 years! Even more mind-boggling than that is how the shell they discard afterward comes to life. Two Pokemon spring from one.

Oh, I'm not very experienced either, to be honest. I've had some friends who almost exclusively take up photography as a hobby, and they're really into taking shots of bug Pokemon. Their photos can turn out incredibly.

Truly? A Nincada can evolve into two separate Pokemon? How mystifying! How could the shell possibly come to life? Is it inhabited by a wandering spirit? Does another Pokemon take its shell as its own and transform into a new Pokemon? It's all so unlike anything I've ever heard of.

I am sure that they look splendid! Do your photographer friends happen to shoot images of bird Pokemon, by any chance? I would love to see these. [LOL BIAS]

I may be known as the walking encyclopedia of bug Pokemon, but even I'm stumped! I have no idea how it happens. It is my hope that this mystery can one day be solved, but for now, it's just a really cool mystery to marvel at.

Um... about that, well... [He's grinning a little sheepishly, like he doesn't know how to put it!] Bug fanatics can be pretty biased, and birds aren't exactly a bug's best friend, you know. I imagine if they're trying to get a shot of a bug-type Pokemon, they'd want to keep the birds away as best they can. But I'm sure they do occasionally! Birds can be very photogenic, as long as they stay still.

Certainly. Some things may not even be meant to ever be analyzed, don't you think? Some thing may stay a mystery for however long the wind blows.

Ah, so they're photographers that specialize in bugs! That, I would understand. Birds do like to partake in insect cuisine, I should say. Skarmory must have been quite the shining example of that. I assure you that if we meet, I will at least keep Skarmory well-contained. He will likely stay here under the care of my gym trainers. Altaria is very friendly with other trainers' bugs, though. She is very loving.

[The widest smile tugs across her face. It's clear that she downright adores her Altaria more than anything else.]

Who knows? Well, in any case, that's not going to stop me from finding out as much as I possibly can about them.

I know that better than anyone! I'm glad you understand how we feel. Some bugs are more vulnerable than others and get spooked by the very sight of a bird. I would very much enjoy meeting you, I think. Maybe when I return someday, I'll stop by and we can get to know each other in person.

It is always worth trying! You may even be the one to make greater history on your research.

I could only imagine how the poor Silcoon and Cascoon must feel... but I digress. I would love to see you if you ever do stop here! I will gladly help you feel right at home.
