The US postal service is facing stiff competition from email and private carriers such as Fed-Ex and UPS. Their solution? Cutting services and raising rates. Makes perfect sense when you consider that they are a US Government run outfit.
The only way the entire operation going out of business would affect me is that I wouldnt be able to receive my power bill anymore. Somehow in 2010 in Anderson Indiana you cannot pay your power bill online or even with a credit/debit card (unless you are willing to leave the credt/debit information on their answering machine WTF?). Maybe the postal service crashing and burning would make them upgrade
