With two weeks left on campus, the Powers That Be (Gary + beard) have seen fit to gift us with Internet that is fast and Actually Works. It's amazing. YouTube videos load. Software updates happen. It's magical. The only thing is that we still don't have WiFi in the dorms, which would be very useful. It has cut down on my Internet spending, however. Just a little bit ago I really wanted to pre-order Hastur Lord from Amazon, but I didn't have with me my card that has money on it. So I didn't buy it. (But I will! I'm terribly excited.)

The last few weeks have been absolutely mad. One and a half months into the program, I realized I hadn't been getting paid at all. That was a massive clusterfuck which ended up taking a week to solve. It could have been far worse, but I'm now stuck with a somewhat substantial overdraft fee on the bank account that I'm accustomed to using and the wrong numbers on my PayPal account. On the bright side, I have money. Finally. And since I haven't been spending it, I have more than a lot of other people on my team.

There has been some team drama, but as far as I can tell, far less than many other teams are experiencing. This morning, there was some passive-aggressive behavior related to the kitchen's cleanliness (or lack thereof), but after that I made bacon and ate hash browns and mixed most of the dries for biscuits and am now waiting on baking powder to finish them. Om nom nom.

Today is a nice Sunday. I'm enjoying myself. ^__^

As far as our project goes, we finished clearing the trail about a month ahead of schedule. OH SNAP. Unfortunately, that mean that the rest of this round will be spent on invasive species removal. As a general rule, I'm all for getting rid of invasive species, but every day for three weeks in Mississippi humidity and bugs, well. We're clearing a couple of battle sites so that visitors to the park can see how it actually looked during the siege (no plants).

Anyway, it's been difficult to find motivation lots of the time. For how unenthusiastic we are about this part of the project, however, we seem to have accomplished a startling amount.

And for the future! We found out our second round project a week ago. We'll be going to Biloxi, which is on the coast of Mississippi, to work with Habitat for Humanity. There are some awesome things and some less awesome things about this project, but in general, I'm excited.

There are many other things. Here's something of note: while I haven't exactly been keeping up on eljay, I have been using Twitter from my phone reasonably often. My username, somewhat predictably, is silmerin.

Will try to give more details on my life later on. As ought to be clear by now, whether or not that will actually happen is anybody's guess. Feel free to contact me on AIM (Eithelien) or Google chat (silmerin at gmail dot com).
