Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching
The beginning of Parks and Recreation was bad.
Then it got better.
Parks and Rec is my favorite segment of the NBC Thursday lineup. It's obviously better than The Office, and it's funnier and more consistent--dare I say it?--than 30 Rock has been lately ("Don Cheadle on a bed of rice" Jon Hamm/Dean Winters/Jason Sudeikis cameo scene excepted); I think Community sometimes aims higher, which I appreciate, but I don't love it. What I do love is everybody in this parks department (except Jerry, obviously): I love Leslie Knope for having amazing hair and for thinking ladies are awesome and for loving her job, I love Ron Swanson for having a killer 'stache and for loving breakfast buffets and for being Duke Silver on his down time, and I love Tom Haverford for being a failed pimp (in the colloquial, non-professional sense), and I love Ann Perkins for also having good hair and for being a good lady friend and for occasionally showing us how hilarious Rashida Jones actually is, and I love April Ludgate for simultaneously hating and secretly loving everybody, and I love Andy (CHRIS PRATT!) for rollerblading and for sometimes living in the pit and for yelling "Five-oh!" and diving into the bushes, and I love Donna for loving both birthday cake and breakfast cereal. I used to love Mark Brandanowicz, for being the Jan Levinson-Gould of Parks and Rec and for drawing up secret Pit Park plans, but now he's gone. I also loved Dave the police officer/Leslie's boyfriend, but now he has his own show, so.
All this to say: Parks and Rec is hilarious and heartwarming, and you are totally missing some amazingness if you're not watching it.
