I just reclaimed my awesomeness!

Why I love the internet: recently, upon watching "Chuck vs. the Truth" (I'm going through a bit of a thing lately), I decided to ask the internets for an Awesome montage. And lo, it was at my beck and call! Say it with me now: That is...outstanding! Lock it out.

Speaking of, how much did I love Chuck vs. the Beard?

A LOT.

A LOT A LOT.

Way to pick up the pace, show. I'm so happy that Morgan's in on Chuck's secret--I sometimes forget the how good this show is at the Chuck/Morgan friendship, but the truth is that they're really, really good at it, and at male friendship in general. I'm thrilled about all of the potential for Morgan shenanigans/manly BFF moments this opens up.

I especially loved how this episode began with Chuck giving the same obnoxious-but-true speech he's been running on loop all season--like, I love the guy, and even I wish he would can it--and ended in such a way that I don't think we'll ever hear it again, like they knew exactly how repetitive it was, and how effective it would be to start off that way. Well played, all.

Also, it brings immense joy to my heart to hear Ryan McPartlin say the word "awesome." I've missed you, dude.

I also cannot express my affection for Jeffster and their Woodstockian revolution. (Actually, not gonna lie: I love Jeff and Lester just generally. I think they're a great example of well-used supporting characters, in the sense that they'd be disastrously unfunny in the wrong hands...but end up being mostly hilarious. Like, I'm still sometimes surprised that I don't hate them. But I really, really don't.)

Alternatively, if Shaw were as condescending towards my thoughts and feelings as he is towards basically everything that comes out of Sarah's (or anybody's, really) mouth, I would have to punch him in his pretty, pretty face. Ugh.

And finally, is it me, or is Zac Levi's Greg Brady hair growing out nicely? What a relief, man. He's looking good. And, um, he directed this episode. (Hey. Priorities.)

So we know now, definitively, why Temperance Brennan can never truly date Andrew Hacker: HE'S A RING AGENT. WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.

Booth and Brennan would kick his ass collectively, if Morgan hadn't already done so. BOOYAH.

TV, why are you so good to me?

So, it's my week to cook for the family. For ages, my parents have switched off menu-planning/shopping/cooking duties by the week, and they've added me to the mix. I love my cooking week--really, I wouldn't mind cooking for my parents all the time, since I'm the one who really likes to cook around here, and also it allows me to force everybody to eat only things I like. So far this week: homemade pizza, my new side-dish crush mixed citrus salad with feta and mint, and a slightly weird braise-y casserole-y thing with carrots, chard, white beans, and garlic sausage. Coming up: creamy rice with roasted tomatoes and shrimp; also pasta with mixed mushrooms. More leafy greans and fewer pork chops, I say!

(We interrupt this LJ post to say that I just happened upon this 10 Things You Didn't Know About Kevin McHale video, and jailbait or no, consider him crushed. How adorable/OCD is he?)

Otherwise, things are okay. Choir's in full swing, and the best thing I do all week; class is going pretty well, even though it brings out my apparent desire to be obviously better at writing than other people even when I am obviously NOT better at writing than other people; the lovely and generous captainoz lets me crash on her couch when I need to be close to my friends/far from my parents. There's been some adjustment in my social group since I left, which I'm still getting the hang of, but it's getting better. I'm not getting a ton of freelance work and am starting to think more seriously about regular part-time work--I've actually been okay financially so far, but looming poverty sucks, and I'm not actually making much money, either. I applied recently for a job at the town library, and qualified for the written exam; otherwise...bookstore? Starbucks? Temping? Unclear.

At least I can road trip: I went to middle-of-nowhere NorCal recently to visit some friends and their eleven-month-old, eighty-pound yellow lab/lap dog, which was super-fun and also confirmed my pleasure at having only cats. (Their dogs: SO SO CUTE and SO SO SO MUCH WORK!) And on Friday, I'm packing up some snacks and some podcasts and driving down to LA to do whatever for the weekend, which sounds good. I love driving around California pretty much all the time, but this time of year is especially fantastic--green hills, blue skies, cherry/plum/apricot/almond orchards in bloom, and lambs/calves/various baby wildlife on like every hillside. Well done, state.

So...this is me, not generally interesting enough for regular LJ posts, to tell the truth. Blerg.

Next time on Liz's LJ (and by "next time," I mean "now"), watching The Wire and bed!

road trip!, bones, california, yum!, glee, technology today, chuck
