So, Very Important Announcement: It turns out that, even when flavored with fruit, Greek yogurt is basically like eating an entire cup of sour cream. It was nice while it lasted, my thick and tangy friend, but I think I am officially grossed out by you. This makes me sad, especially since I have three more days' worth of strawberry Chobani in the ( Read more... )

OMG COMIC CON! Liz, it is my secret dream to go to a comic con some time. You have to let me come with you.

Well, so come on! It will be like Rhinebeck, minus the picturesque cabin but surely including plenty of travel knitting! I am not kidding about this at ALL: California, summer 2010. Let's do this. Alaskan cruises can waaaait.

We don't have to wear costumes though. We can be cute but slightly normal geeks.

Witty t-shirt, jeans, Converse, swingy ponytail: check.

Well how much of that is just perfect? Everything, that's how much! And if it was in the summer that means no teaching to contend with! I can zip off at a moment's notice! Plane fare yes, but time to save up for that.

Yes yes yes yes! If you're serious, we should buy our tickets and figure out a place to stay soon. (Also: depending on where I'm living by then, this may be a road-trip opportunity. San Francisco to San Diego? Highway 101? Again, depending on the immediate future of my life.)

Did I tell you about my plan to make some (fingering-weight, of course) colour-work fingerless mitts in Superman theme? Because yes, I am THAT MUCH geeked out on Smallville at this point.

1) No, you did not tell me that. 2) HAAAAAA. That is all.

Well when exactly are we talking about here? When the heck is Comic Con anyway? And how long should I come for?

July 22-25, apparently, which is a Thursday through Sunday (but I think most festivities start on Friday). As for length of stay, it would depend on where I'm living and whether we're road-tripping. We could do SF-SD in one very long day; of course, if I'm in LA by then, we could just crash at wherever I live. La la la I don't know what I'm doing with my life! But that should give you a general idea.

And yes to all of the road trip things. I can totally do that. I cannot drive of course as you know, but I can be map support girl and radio fiddler and pleasant conversationalist. And non-driving support!Excellent. I know that you are ultra-skilled in all of those areas, and also at exclaiming at the beauty of my majestic home state, since showing it off to foreigners is basically my favorite thing ever (and also, it won't be raining this time, NAPA). (Somehow long-hauling California is way less painful than long-hauling DC ( ... )

But so would we need to book the CC tickets in advance asap? I would hold off any airline ticket bookings until I had a better sense of which airport to fly into (LAX or SFO) but one presumes the CC is the biggest challenge yes?

Yes. Definitely hold off on airport stuff, and I know housing near CC itself fills up fast, but I don't feel the need to stay nearby, necessarily. (I mean, it would be nice, but not necessary.) But we should get tickets relatively soon, I think.

We are talking deep midnight blue and burnt red, in stranded colour-work all over: Superman logo overlaid on top of swishy red for cape, overlaid on top of the Metropolis skyline. (On the top of hand.) And on palm the skyline which gives way to the Daily Planet building. (You know, to get Lois in there too).

EPIC, INDEED. Heeee. (No slacking now, man. You've gotta have these ready for Comic-Con. Although, frankly, this may edge over into costume territory.)
