A very long post, mostly about TV

So, things are good. I mean, despite the many areas of ambivalence in my life (work, DC, haircut, boys, Etsy handbags), I do not feel at all ambivalent about a warm Friday night with the windows open and plenty of time to do whatever I want ( Read more... )

IF it all turns out to be some metaphoric thing from Brennan's POV on love etc, then I could be fine with that. By this point I've just given up all hope of plot depth, yanno?

I do know. I've sort of decided that EITHER HH is completely unable to see the arcs and opportunities in his characters, OR he simply has a totally different vision for this show than we expect. I can't decide which, though. (Also, I do think it's a metaphoric thing from Brennan's POV on love etc., regardless of how effective it was, or how it affects next season.)

The spoilers didn't out-and-out say the sex wouldn't be Real B/B, but there were strong hints - plus, the stilettos and red nails, yanno?

Well, yeah, right? I was just surprised at so many people's rage over the sex being imagined (OR WAS IT?)--I figured that if people were really spoiled, they would have known more or less how it was going to play out. Or, you know, maybe figure it out themselves from the, uh, contextual clues (nails, shoes).

I agree tenfold on The Office! And that ending bit between Jim and Pam was just so adorable I couldn't contain a squee.

Aren't they just the cutest ever? I realize that he's fictional and all, but in terms of the type of guy I'm looking for, it's so tempting just to point in Jim's direction and be all, "...that one."

I'm glad that I'm not the only person who thinks that Bones isn't exactly the smartest show ever. I love it for what it is, but I can't see them pulling some really complex thing over on us. I just don't think they have the foresight to do it.

That said, I thought the finale was pretty enjoyable. Hodgins somehow gets more and more attractive...maybe it was the Irish accent?

I think the only thing I'm curious about is whether the AU world was in fact, what Brennan was writing about, or whether it was Booth's dream. But I don't know if we'll ever get an answer to that.

Also, Liz Lemon giving relationship advice was possibly the cutest thing ever. "That's a dealbreaker!"

I am forever conflicted about this; see what I said above to carmen_sandiego. Either HH and Co. really DON'T have the capacity/inclination to make this show really deep, or they DO have the inclination but go about it so haphazardly that it comes out all wonky. I have no idea which, which makes the whole thing that much less predictable.

Me, too. I thought it was ballsy and totally fun.

I think I need to watch the Bones finale again. Since I was spoiled, I was bitterly disappointed (I'm a shipper! I can't help it!), but looking back...not so much. And makd has a theory that the first snippet was real, but in the future, the long middle was the AU, and the end was the present. It's an interesting theory, and I'm going to have to think about it. I don't know that she's wrong.

I can totally see being disappointed if you thought teh sex was going to be real. I personally had no reason to believe otherwise, either, but I never actually read the spoilers--I heard the squee and extrapolated. Also, after the promo, I assumed it was a dream because of Brennan's shoes and because of the weird, soft-focus feel of the scene. It felt, to me, more like a fantasy Booth might have about Brennan than how Booth might actually approach sex with Brennan.

But I AM confused about how so many people seemed to know so much about that scene but not know that it was going to be (maybe) imaginary. Which, when you think about it, could be a huge, douchey move on the Bones crew's part. Heh.
