Today is my baby's first half birthday! Yay! We went out to Olive Garden last night to celebrate (our surviving half a year of parenthood) and she was so good until the end. She sat in her high chair, playing with her toys and grinning at people.
Current things she's doing:
-eating carrots (although she spits them everywhere)
-shaking maracas and a tambourine to music
-saying "ba," "ga," "da," "la," "boo," and "ma," along with screaming just for fun
-sitting up, and has finally figured out how to get back down without hurting herself
-rolling to get everywhere (nowhere close to crawling yet)
-clapping her hands (as of last night)
-grinning at EVERYONE
-grabbing my face while she nurses
-rolling over to position herself next to me in order to either nurse or cuddle
-went swimming for the first time and enjoyed sitting in her float and kicking her legs
-still waking up 2-3 times per night, but no longer doing the dreaded 4 times a night
-occasionally laying down in her crib and going to sleep without freaking out
-has figured out that the "baby in the mirror" is her, or at least that "mommy in the mirror" is me
-can stand up while holding a chair or the coffee table
-gives her daddy the "hero worship" eyes
-loves going to the library
-loves other kids and babies
-sticks everything in her mouth
-slaps everything
-spits just for fun
She is doing very well in daycare, although she just got a new teacher who I'm not so sure about. On the weekends, we pass her back and forth so we both get a break. My husband likes to narrate for her and is hilarious. I play "row your boat" with her, and she loves it. She weighed 17 pounds last time I weighed her (a week or two ago) and was almost 26 inches at her last doctor's appointment at 4 months. Friday she will have her next doctor's appointment and they may test her for allergies- she has had a cough and runny nose since a little before 2 months old!
