Currently my entire kitchen is in disarray, and to help get it back to normal we need to pick a paint color.
Here is a picture of our kitchen before we moved into the house (all those random things on the counters are not ours).
Things that have changed since then:
-new appliances (black)
-currently refinishing the cabinets (they will be much more natural - more of a "blond" oak color and not shiny.)
-brushed silver hardware on the cabinets
-other brushed stainless steel accents throughout the kitchen
The countertops are staying red, which brings us to the dilemma of what color to paint the kitchen. I would prefer something bright but not so shocking that when we go to sell the house potential buyers are scared off. The kitchen gets a bit dark in the evenings, especially in winter, so I want to try to keep things looking light.
For consideration, here is a recent-ish picture of our dinning area which is adjacent to the kitchen:
That same green is used on our stairs, but in a darker shade. I'm thinking of perhaps using a lighter green (maybe 2 tones lighter) in the kitchen. Blue is also in the running, probably a tone from the photo hanging here:
This photo also gives you an idea of the layout with the dining area behind the coat closet and the kitchen is behind to the right. The oatmeal colored walls will remain. The entire layout is very open, and in the front room I have a variety of bright colors contrasting with our chocolate leather furniture (green and pink are dominant, but also: blue, yellow, and orange)
Color options as I see it:
-green, same color as accent wall
-green, 2 tones lighter
-blue (sky, french)
-yellow (sunny, egg yolk)
-others?
