On the road again, like a bag of chipsies we go down the highway.

That's really how I learned the song. My cousin had mistakenly sung it that way, the rest of the family thought it was cute, and it was adopted for all future road trips. I was at least 10 before I learned that that wasn't how the song goes.

So I haven't actually be going on road trips and don't have any planned until Christmas (the trip home with Alena, and the trip to APhiO nationals with Claire), but I'm traveling a good bit.

Last weekend was the aforementioned cousin's wedding in Kansas. It was the first wedding on this side of the family since my parents got married 25 years ago. It was a huge shindig. Small, gender-segregated gatherings Thursday night. The post-rehearsal dinner Friday (my aunt's house had 80 people in it and could have pretty comfortably accommodated more). The ceremony and reception Saturday. Brunch Sunday. I got in Wednesday night to help my aunt out. I've never seen her house so clean. Or so much food at a family event (and for those of you who know my family, you know that's saying something). It was a wonderful wedding and probably deserves its own post with pictures and more detailed descriptions, but I'm not taking the required hour or two for that now. I will mention that their recessional was the triumphal march from the end of Star Wars (they're both movie geeks). I got back Monday evening.

This Thursday I'm flying to New York for an interview on Friday. And I'll have a little time to spend with my spifferific big. Hopefully I'll make it back Friday night in time for "Piano Man," but I may not make it to campus until after midnight.

Then to make it 3 weekends in a row of travel, next weekend I'm going to Boston to celebrate Amanda's 21st birthday. I leave Friday right after my Grammars and Lexicons midterm and get back Monday morning with plenty of time to make it to class.

I know I enjoy being busy, but this might be a bit much, even for me (she says with a grin on her face, knowing that she tends to be happy when things get crazy).
