Once

Every once in a while there are magical music moments. Today I had one!

We went to see Mike tonight, we hadn't seen neither him nor Sarah for quite some time. Sarah wasn't actually there. she has been in the US for a week now. We had some salad and french stick with chicken and then Mike suggested to watch a film. He had quite a few and it was between Stranger Than Fiction and Blood Diamond when he asked us if we had seen a film called Once before. We hadn't.

And from the first few chords Glen Hansard strummed busking in the street, I was totally won over. First thing I did when coming home was ordering the soundtrack online because I don't think I could live a single day longer without it. Actually, now that I mention it, I guess I have to. I'm not all that much into buying on iTunes. I hate the programme and being stuck with it for all the songs I buy sucks. I really really like proper CDs - especially fo something like this.
When Marketa and Glen were in the record shop playing Falling Slowly Mike asked if we had heard any of the songs before and I thought, hm, hey, this one sounds vaguely familiar but didn't say anything because I wasn't sure. But of course I totally have it at home, because it won the Oscar for best song this year! Simone sent it to me in our little music exchange session we had a few months ago. Oscar btw - deservedly so, the whole film was so great and honest and lovely and I loved the actors! I just read that in real life Hansard and Irglova are actually a couple, yay!

So yeah, I hope fishpond.co.nz will hurry up and I'll get the CDs mighty soon because I need them. I also ordered a Frames album, well why not. Coz I'm so fucking rich.

Sigh. So nice. Touches my inner musical soft spots and force out lots of feel good hormones.

Which reminds me, why the hell are there no Age Pryor albums available out there anymore? I don't have the first and it was available out there for a long time but now it's just not available anymore and I really want it. I need to write some serious emails...

Anyways, Mike is the man of the day. Lovely film.

mike, once, music
