Good things

I just want to write about some little things that happen and are over so quick you don't get the chance to tell anyone about them.

A few weeks ago while babysitting, I was pushing around the stroller with cute hindu baby, and this man and his ~5yo son walk out of their apartment and cross the sidewalk I was standing on. While the dad was unlocking the car, the little boy is looking at me, so I smiled and he says "Hi- that's a nice baby you got there!" So classic.

on Easter, I was stressing about getting ready etc, so I am inside being a girl and Alex was looking under the hood of my car in anticipation of replacing some sensors next time i come home, and he also cleaned my entire car for me, randomly- vacuumed, etc. It looks brand new. I have vacuumed my car, it has never looked this good. :)

My 75 year old great aunt (Nana's sister) was at Easter, being as fabulously eccentric as usual, telling me about how she can wear her high school class ring again, and recounting "all the place it's been." I then, off hand, compliment another ring she has on, which she promptly takes off and gives to me, despite my resistance. It is pretty, but in a vintage/ older lady sort of way haha. It's a cluster of sapphires, one yellow, two green, two blue, and one white. It's huge, but it fit my ring finger perfectly, and I love it in an ugly sort of way. The cutest part was she told me when giving it to me "it was a ring that really belonged on a more youthful hand." Hahahahahaha. Love my crazy relatives.

My other great aunt, Nana's sister, who is 61, insisted on putting whipped cream on my brownie sundae (!!!!!) for me, only to turn and put whipped cream on Alex's nose in ninja fashion hahahahahahahaha. I don't think people do shit like in Alex's family based on his reaction. He wiped it off, but I kissed his nose anyway.

Then, driving home Monday, I stopped in DE at a Dunkin' Donuts while detouring around their ridiculous $4.00-each-way toll (7 minute detour, totally worth it). There was a few of us in line and only one guy working, and when the older gentleman in front of me got to the counter, he offered to let me go first, and I declined with a smile. He then ordered, and then turned and offered to buy me a coffee, which I also declined- but what a sweet thing to do.
