I've been so busy with concerts and rehearsal that I have not had the time to update!
Last weekend James and I took a 3 day road trip to the Los Angeles-Orange County area. On our way down we encountered very strong crosswinds coming into Bishop on US 395. Then as we approached Palmdale-Lancaster-Santa Clarita on CA 14 there was an awesome lightning storm over the mountains the looked to stretch from San Bernardino to past LA into the Ocean. It was 106 at 915 PM in The Valley, but cooled off to a still not comfortable 94 in Santa Monica. Not the weather I expected.
Sunday we shopped at South Coast Plaza since it was only a half mile from our hotel. We were suprised only Norstom and Nordstrom Rack were the only stores with noticible sales going on. Every store in Reno is still trying to give away clothing for $5 a shirt. After being out in the heat walking over the Bridge of Gardens thing which was more like crossing a steaming volcano we went to the Karl Strauss Brewry Resturant and cooled off with some sore of beer. I actually ordered a beer... Haven't done that in a while. I drank the whole 22 oncer too.
Afterwards we met up with one of my ex-co-workers from Huntington Beach and had a drink at the Lazy Dog. No AC in that place either. Go figure. We decided to take in a movie and I go to see Pirates of the Carribean 2. I had a lot of fun and miss her. She's doing well now that she quit Stein Mart. I'm glad!!!!!
Monday morning we headed to Signal Hill/Long Beach to get my restored Sousaphone that I left with them in January. They woun't ship the horn, so that nececitated the trip, but it was a good reason to get away. After dropping a grand that the repair shop we went to one of my old haunts, The Park Pantry for breakfast. Made me miss Long Beach. Sad story....
On the way home we encountered a very nasty thunderstorm coming over Conway pass above Mono Lake (about 8600 ft. in elevation). There was constant lightning and it started to downpour. I was getting nervous we were going to get hit plus I had to pee very badly! The rain noise didn't help it at all. By the time we made it into Bridgeport it was outright pouring and we ran into the "Gas and Go" and peed and bought some more over-priced beverages. I watched the cows run for the nearest tree because of the storm. Then a sheriff came up on us and we found out a mile later there had been a fire sparked by the storm. It was creepy to see that no more than 20 feet off the side of the road.
Soon after that it cleared and by the time we got to the Nevada state line it was 95 degs. and sunny. Fun times.
