Jack!

Jack and Chik blurb. Jack feels really bad about the fight. He's going to be bothered about it for a long time.

Chik leafed through the herbology journals that Ranonashan had sent her with an intent look.  She seemed to ignore Jack as he set out her various jars and corked vials on her work table.

“Did you apologize properly to Master Ranonashan?” She asked  one ear twitching in a slightly irked manner as Jack  held a bundle of fragrant tea leaves. Jack was uncomfortable as he set down the leaves. She was making more of her restorative tea, Jack had managed to drink it all after the fight he’d had with the warlock.

“I did. He informed me that you gave him permission to keep me in line.” he looked up at Chik with the saddest face in the world. One that was remarkably similar to  kicked puppy or waterlogged kitten as even his ears dropped in a semi melodramatic fashion. He hadn’t bothered to heal the bruises he’d gotten, she knew he would always leave the small injuries alone.

“Stop it. You didn’t have to start it.” She was gruff as she swung at him. She smacked him in the back of the head, a gentle tap by her standards.

“But I didn’t! He did.” Chik grumbled as Jack slunk back from her still daring to use the sad face at her. She raised one eye brow at him, a mannerism she’d picked up from him.

“Jabbers,  what am I going to do with you and your voices?” She used a dry sprig of  steelbloom to mark her spot in the book as she set it down to look at him. Jack tried to look even more pathetic. Chik sighed as she shook her head.  “What is it Child?” She was slightly grumpy as she started to grab handfuls of herbs to throw into a large red ceramic jar. Jack passed her the jars of spices still looking unhappy. Chik stopped him with a raised hand and a warning look.

“I killed him.” Jack was hugging his book to his chest. “ He had a soulstone, and I have my spells,  but  I killed him.” Jack looked down at his book.  Chik grabbed him in a big tauren hug, one hand patting the top of his head.

“Jabs, he’s still walking and breathing. Miss Sunshine was nice enough to run that errand for me.” She rocked gently from side to side trying to reassure him. “And he did forgive you didn’t he?” Jack sighed from somewhere under her chest.

“I still killed him…” Jack tried to push away from Chik, but she was prepared. “Ooowwww, my ribs.” He whined as she reluctantly let go of him.

“Jabs, try not to dwell on that. Rano is alive, and all is forgiven is it not?” Jack looked away again as Chik grabbed his face. “Now you and your voice come to an agreement on Rano. He may be in an.. Unsavory… calling, but he’s got a good heart. You wouldn’t hang around him if he didn’t. Now get out of here and go find your sister.  You two need to go and bond.”

Jack nodded, heading for the door. He paused before he left.

“Thanks Mother.” He smiled at her, as she made a shoo motion at him.
