the other god

9:20 PM 1/7/07 · The Devil is an interesting thing when you think about it. In one of the many religious posts I put up I got a response that the story of how the Devil was once an angel who rose up in defiance of God is not actually discussed anywhere in the Bible. In fact, apparently the good book (does it have to capitalized with every reference?) doesn't specifically say where the Devil came from which is interesting when you think about it.

I don't happen handy for direct quote but as I understand the lore: God created the Heaven's and the Earth, God created light and Adan & Eve and the animals and a number of other vague things. Basically it sums up everything in broad terms. Now I don't recall there being any mention of where the angels came from either, which could mean that God didn't necessarily make them...they could've existed as God did in whatever was around way back when. Hey, they could've been the equivilant of the same micro·organisms that are all over our bodies...just on God.

Whatever, it's not important.

I used to harbor a theory that the reason God didn't get rid of the Devil was because It couldn't. Be it because of some kinda deal that's never been put down on the books or because there just needs to be balance in all Creation. Of course, the thing about balance is that it kinda implies that God and the Devil are equals...

...I'm still sticking with the twin concept.

What I'm wondering is twofold. That story of the Devil once being the angel Lucifer is really old, old as in ancient. It's at least as old as the Bible, maybe older if there might be some listing as far back as the Torah. Does anyone know the source of the story that tells of Lucifer's fall from Heaven and becoming the Devil? Or is it just one of those word of mouth things that was never actually transcribed?

That's how the Bible was known before it was put down on paper/parchment the first time.

devil, god, lucifer, origin
