The Nazis have landed...

...only this time they've invaded from Kansas.

11:09 PM 1/29/10 · I iniitally heard about this in a local paper and the invasion seemed a tad more limited in scope. The evening news cleared that up pretty quick, the Nazis were everywhere and doing as they usually do with a lack of killing (fortunately) but overall being excessively hateful and making real asses of themselves.

I should probably clarify. The 'Nazis' are members of the Westboro Baptist Church. They hail from Topeka, Kansas. Not that I think all Baptists are Nazis. Really have never had much thoughts on Baptists in general before this. As the local Baptists are horrified by these idiots I think it's safe to say these Westboro Baptists are not an accurate display of how Baptists are supposed to be. Because clearly all these are about is spreading the message of how the Jews are evil and homosexuals (which they refer to by the outmoded term 'fags') are all going to burn in Hell.

Lovely people.

Apparently just pissing off their neighbors isn't good enough for them. They had to come all the way to California, particularly my stomping grounds of the SF Bay Area, to share with everyone how woefully ignorant they are.

I may seem to be unusually hateful towards them, suppose you could say I'm embracing that whole 'you reap what you sow' mentality. Racism is pathetic and an abomination in my eyes. Not a fan of any kind of prejudice in as a rule. In this case it's doubly stupid though.

1) The attitude against Jews is kind of self·defeating. They're Baptists, which is one of the multitude of branches that is Christianity. Which means they praise Jesus...who is a Jew. So, in essence, they hate their savior. The Westboro Baptist Church apparently are promoting the view that their Messiah is evil.

I don't think that's gonna go over so well with the folks upstairs.

2) The attitude against Homosexuals is predictable and pathetic. News showed some of the usual Saddam & Gomorrah crap. To be clear, that story did not have the destruction of that city because their were homosexuals in it. If that were God's intent It would've had to have annihiliated every single city, village, tribe, or any real grouping of people across the face of the planet. That city had the worst murderers, rapists, and associated other human scum than any other place on Earth.

That's why God had it nuked.

Also the aforementioned crap about 'man shall not lay with man as he does with woman'. I did a rant about that over in
USA·de·Quirky not too long ago. Along the lines that when you'r being literal, gay men do not lay with each other as they would with women anyway. Sexual positioning being what it is, that wouldn't work...

...though it is interesting to me in that old world Christianity had a bit of an issue with men & women laying with each other as gay men do with each other. Something about not comporting with each other as beasts do. It was a punishable offense by truly severe means. Frankly it's the same garbage that a lot of the Bible obsessive cling to when they forget that outside of the 10 Commandments, the book is not the Word of God. It's a collection of works that are inspired by God but written by Man. And as it is very human to err, the failings of Man are very evident throughout. The attitude against homosexuality is just Man's prejudice and insecurity placed in there in the hopes to give it even more weight...which sadly worked very effectively.

God has no problem with homosexuals. If It did then It would stop making them. While I do accept that there are straight people who choose to be gay, just as historically there have been gay people who have chosen to be straight, I'm also of the mind that people are born gay.

I'm ranting a bit. Happens when I'm upset...even when I'm typing.

A final blurb on this? That whole 'man shall not lay with man as he does with woman' is interesting in that it only applies to males.

Clearly the good book has no problem with lesbians.

The members of the Westboro Baptist Church say the core of their beliefs is that they're against sin. I find this really interesting in the fact that they are in fact sinning by spreading hatred. Maybe that's not really a sin...but it should be!

Places they decided to hit while here were a production of Rent, a place where Jews congregate, and Gunn High School. If you're not local you may not know, there's been a number of suicides at the latter so these nutjobs went there to persecute the students and staff for not being Christian enough to prevent this from happening.

11:02 PM 1/30/10 · Before posting this I decided to learn a little bit more about the Westboro Baptist Church. I may have to sandpaper my eyeballs now. Mostly went to Wikipedia, not a fun read but it's informative, as the WBC's websites are garbage.

The WBC have multiple websites. They all start with "GodHates" followed by some randon word and finally ".com" which has led me to a particular theory. They say the Devil's greatest trick was to make humanity think he doesn't exist. I would counter that with the second greatest trick...

...that being getting the WBC to worship him. I mean, really...if God is love and all these people do is spread hatred, it's kinda self·evident.
