1:49 AM 8/21/09 · Swung by Borders and picked up a massive, 1½" thick, collected edition of several Spawn comics. As with most graphic novels it's basically held together with glue...which, as you might imagine, is not conducive to stability in hot Summer weather.
Just finished reading it and it's already slipped free of the cover. The glue is still holding the pages in place but that's just a matter of time.
It's a beautiful piece. I've loved the artwork of the series from the beginning. Detailing the time Spawn went from preventing the apocalypse, the death of Angela, to killing Maelobolgia, from his ascension to a Highlord status in Hell, and the forces arrayed against him as he tries to bring stability to the world.
Toying with busting out an industrial sized 3·hole punch, buying a big binder, in preparation for when it eventually falls apart. We're talking about 500 pages, or so, and maybe it might be worth it just to take it to Kinko's or someplace. At my previous job, reprographics, I had all the gear to take this thing apart and make it into a new book.
