This comic was never printed in a newspaper, according to Dan's blog post.
But really, it's not anti-Christian, nor atheist in any way. In fact, I remember a sermon once that used a gun in replacement for the Cross. The cross was just a standard execution method at that time. If Jesus had been executed today, it would definitely be a chair that Christians would be wearing.
