But that does not mean that there is anything wrong with YOU. Perhaps you got the best your father was able to offer this world. You might have just gotten ALL of it, you know? You might have been his one redemption, in the face of all of the hurt and anguish he caused. You can remember the things about him that are worth remembering, and honor those memories. And also be proud of yourself, that you are a loving and generous person, with the best laugh and the biggest heart of anyone you know, in spite of the dubious legacy he left in other ways. So, whatever was good about your dad can be a positive force in your life, and help you to continue to bring your family and friends happiness.
He doesn't get the credit, though. That joy is ALL YOU.
