Don't get me wrong, I'm an Obama fan, but I wish he hadn't won the Nobel Peace Prize right now. I truly think that he's a great man and he gives me hope for my country for so many reasons. But he's barely had time to do anything. He hasn't been in office for a year yet and he has a tough road ahead of him.

It's interesting, to me, to see the ( Read more... )

FINALLY an American I can agree with. I've been a Bush-disliker, to put it mildly, for a loooong time, and it seems like every time I speak to an American about politics they think the exact opposite as me.

I think that Obama got the award too early. I do think that if he actually follows through with what he has said he wants, he deserves it hands down. But we have to face the fact that he hasn't done it yet.

And as a non-American: Yes, the Bush-administration ruined a lot. I mean, I've always liked the US. I always looked up to the US. When Bush &co started the war I couldn't believe it. How could they seriously think that war would solve anything? No one took the US seriously for the entire time Bush was president. It was just a pity that most of the American didn't notice.

Obama has the chance to make the rest of the world take USA seriously once again, after being laughed at and pitied for a long eight years or so. So far he's doing great. Let's hope he doesn't disappoint the US nor the rest of the world. We all want to believe in USA again!

"I really think Americans need to wake up to the rest of the world. I don't think they realize how destructive this Bush administration has been for the U.S. internationally.

And I don't think any other president has ever had the opportunity that Bush had in international relations. After 9/11, the world was ready to be our ally. Even countries that hated us supported us openly. Bush blew it on March 20, 2003 -- and the days and weeks leading up to that as he lied to NATO in an attempt to garner support for invading Iraq."

Thank you. You brightened my day considerably!

Yeah, I wasn't so lucky there. About 90% of my online American friends are Bush-supporters. I just gave up talking politics with Americans for a looong while.

And thank YOU for restoring my faith in the US again! =D
