Hannah sits in her dorm, the guilt over what she’s done just not ebbing away. Things are still off with Ernie, and even so with Justin. She remembers her promise to them before leaving for the library a few nights ago; she owes Lisa a letter of apology.
She takes some parchment out of her bag as well as a quill and some ink. When she pulls out Ernie’s quill, it nearly brings tears to her eyes. She seeks out one of her own, reminding herself to find some way of getting that back to him. She begins to write, going through many pieces of parchment before finally coming up with smething that she’s satisfied with.
Dear Lisa,
I am sending this letter along with Ernie to give to you because I doubt you can stand to see my face right now. I truly don’t blame you for any foul opinion you may have of me after the way I treated you the day I saw you with Ernie. You see, I think you seem like really nice person, you’ve never done anything to make me think otherwise. But I’ll be honest. I’ve fancied Ernie for a long time and only recently did I get the courage to even remotely do anything about it. I suppose I thought, being one of his best mates, that I’d have a chance with him. Once more, I was wrong. He’s a great person and he deserves someone who makes him happy, which you seem to do. Please accept my apology for my atrocious behaviour.
Sincerely,
Hannah Abbott
Hannah cleans up the area around her bed, discarding the crumpled bits of parchment into the wastebin, putting away her things, and heading out of the dorm in hopes of finding Ernie with his quill and the letter in her hand.
I hope this isn’t going to just stir up more trouble. . .
