Writestuff

Jan 12, 2007 19:38

Thank you
enigmaticash for the nudge and thank you

madusa for your militant concern. :P
silli has been meaning to write for ever so long; there is so much
writestuff floating around in her mind. But I made a cardinal error, that of
letting the ideas sit for too long. They are no longer crisp and juicy. The
other error, of course, is writing too soon, when your ideas are still raw
and unpalatable, when they have not been allowed to mature. The first
is a result of procrastination (which silli excels at) while the second is
a product of haste.

So here is whatever I can make of this outdated writestuff.

Days of revelling in the feeling of being on vacation, of that sense
of being utterly relaxed, can be followed by an entirely blues-free return
to work. Yes, that is possible !!  :)

Watching midnight fireworks with
headonist is a great way to bring in
the new year.

I may have said this before, but attention can go straight to my head.
 Watch out, silli!

I was flattered when Philhellene remembered this conversation and
sent me a text message. She wanted to tell me that History Channel
will telecast a serial on Sherlock Holmes at 9 pm on Tuesdays.

After a day of delightful anticipation, I was cruelly disappointed to
discover that the cable-wala, for mysterious reasons, is not receiving
signals of Discovery, National Geographic and History and hence
the viewers have to do without them. :( Do let me know how you find it,
all ye who watch it.

The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh is a book one gradually learns to
appreciate - it is valuable for its questioning of concepts that one takes
for granted. Identity, nationhood, language, relationships, history, memory,
imagination, time - they all blend and merge across the shadow lines that
we see as absolute.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is a book one continues to love,
as every repeated reading and discussion brings out more meaning.

Khosla ka Ghosla is a clean, simple film and it is good entertainment.

Earrings of silver are a joy forever. [I can see
madusa nodding in
agreement]
Joy is also that one perfect rose and the tiny whiteblack kitten that arrives
unannounced to share your dinner.    : )

Rangoli, Meet tells me, is made of powder because it symbolises the
ephemeral nature of existence. Interesting, what?

If you have a niece, you can make her happy by buying her a dozen Hello
Kitty kerchiefs. But if you want her to be completely thrilled, buy yourself the
kerchiefs and let her talk you into giving them to her. Her glee when you finally
give in will be priceless.

And before I forget, wish you all a New Year full of love and laughter.
