Chand Sifarish jo karta hamari... (Fanaa) is currently
sillifluous'
favourite song. I listen to it many times a day, sometimes in
a loop.
What I like about the song is the mischievous mood it creates,
particularly through the vigorous, teasing tabla and the peppy
percussion.
The lyrics reflect the content quite well; they are direct and
unpretentious. Shaan's voice in the qawwali style only adds
to their charm. An upbeat, fun romantic number, addictive too. :P
Besides, the simplicity and directness of the lover in the song evoke
the central character of a Western novel sillifluous has just finished
reading. Sackett by Louis L'Amour (courtesy
chaoo as usual) is,
as the name suggests, a tale of another Sackett - Tell Sackett this
time.
The men portrayed in L'Amour's novels are fascinating.
They conform to the popular image of the laconic, swashbuckling
yet honest, caring and warm-hearted cowboy, who
will risk his life rather than risking the values he lives by.
'Stereotyped' one could call them; silli loves reading about
them nevertheless. : )
L' Amour handles the period piece effectively. His
settings are realistic and convincing. The simple Good vs.
Bad conflicts that lie at the heart of his fast-paced novels
make for entertaining reading.
On an unrelated note, sillifluous now has a pink Hello Kitty
wristwatch. :D And this time, Aai has bought two of them,
in view of the fact that one watch is liable to being
appropriated by M. : )
sillifluous cannot wear the watch to work, but who cares?=^ ^=
