Beauty and the Beast

Watched the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast yesterday.

A truly creative and memorable rendering of a familiar tale.

The music is hauntingly beautiful - I can't stop humming:

A tale as old as time
A song as old as rhyme
                  Beauty and the Beast.

There are interesting new characters that add a fun element to the story.
Also, the Beast's expressions easily touch one's heart.

However, I remember watching a film version on DD years ago. I think it was a
Fairy Tale Theatre production. I watched it in B/W, but the effect was truly magical.
This version was faithful to the original story, and there was no humourous angle,
unlike Disney.

DD had telecast an entire series of films on fairy tales. It definitely included
Cinderella, Puss in Boots and Rapunzel, besides others. Will try to  to get hold of
VCDs / DVDs of these films.

One never really grows out of fairy tales, does one?
