Oslo pictures, Monday.

More pictures from my trip to Oslo. These are from Monday. Monday was a rainy day, so we didn't do as much as we planned. Also, we were tired and had sore feet, so we went back to bflyw's place before lunch. We spend it watching old CSI's, which is the show/fandom that brought us together.

On Monday we ran out of luck with the weather. As you can see, the sky was filled with rainclouds, and it rained on and off all day.

We walked past the Olso Cathedral (Domkirke). It's a 17th-century church located on Karl Johans Gate (street) in the heart of Oslo.

More Oslo Cathedral.

View down the street with the Royal Palace (Det Kongelige Slott) at the end.

We also walked past the Parliament Building (Stortinget).

Front of the Parliament Building.

Then we ran into this... interesting statue. Just.. yeah. :')

National Theatre.

We also visited Akershus Fortress. We didn't see as much as it as we wanted too, because it was just raining to much. But what we did see was very pretty.

Some history I looked up:
The building of Akershus Castle and Fortress was commenced in 1299 under king Håkon V. The medieval castle, which was completed in the 1300s, had a strategical location at the very end of the headland, and withstood a number of sieges throughout the ages. King Christian IV (1588-1648) had the castle modernised and converted into a Renaisssance castle and royal residence. During the 17th and 18th century the castle fell into decay, and restoration work only started in 1899.

beelikej venturing back into the rain for some pictures.

On our way to the visitor center.

Making our way back to the Central Station to catch a bus back to bflyw's place.

These were inbedded into the floor near the Central Station.

One last look at Oslo.
