Something for the kids out there

Twas the week before Chrismtas and all through the city,
Not a train was running, it was quite a pity.

Touissant was on a hunt for future pension
And the rest of New York couldn't handle the tension

We all sat at home, glued to the news,
And when we heard "Strike!" we all got the blues.

Not a way to Manhattan, unless over the bridge,
How can one get there from far into Bay Ridge?

Sunset Park, Greenpoint, we haven't a route,
To get to our jobs, and earn us some loot.

Would it last 1 day, 2 days, 3 or a week?
We hope that the Union gets what they seek.

The city is wondering if they'll work something out,
So we won't go to bed with anymore doubts.

If the two sides work out their conflict and plight,
Things will be right,
And we will say "Merry Christmas to New York, and to New York a good night."

~ A holiday tale by Dave

P.S. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
