Catie started Kindergarten today! She was so excited. She is going to the same school were she's done preschool and childcare for the past two years, so it's not a really big change for her. Still, she was nervous last night about having new kids in her class, even though she will know about half of them from preschool and childcare. She doesn't do well with change, so I'm glad that we are keeping her at her current school (even though we have to pay for it) rather than send her to the public school near our house. That school is good too, but then she would start over with all new students and teachers and I don't think she would do well with that.
Even though she's in the same childcare room before and after school, she's in the school aged program now.... so she gets to go outside to the playground before school for 15 minutes instead of playing in the childcare room until the bell rings like the preschoolers do. This is a huge shift for her and she's super excited to be "school age". Her bff is doing another year of Pre-K because she's a few months younger and not ready for K, so I don't know how she and Catie will handle being separated at childcare like that.... I guess we will see when I pick her up.
Here are some pictures of her first day of school. She picked her clothes out herself, as she always does.... She requested a side ponytail, which I did, but then she didn't like it so she took it out and did her own "messy bun". Allie was excited to sit with Catie and take a picture this morning..... she's doing well.... 19 months old, teething, walking, climbing, talking a little, teasing, laughing, kissing. She's a very sweet, funny, calm kid who loves to follow her sister around or get into trouble... a typical 19 month old.
