Summary - And in between lazy kisses and quiet murmurs of I love you, they smiled
Notes - I wrote this during class which is why it took so long. I'm also not too fond of the 'they smiled' at the end because it feels like there's something missing. I also didn't like the word 'focused' but once again, couldn't seem to find the word.

During their days off, when they were finally allowed a break from the monotonous days of being tired, sore, and sleep deprived, the two of them would lock themselves in their shared rooms and lay on one of the narrow beds. With only a small strip of space between them, they whispered their secrets amidst soundless tears and quiet laughter.
The others understood. It was a time for them to renew and strengthen the bond that had started to fray and loosen in the busy weeks since the last day off. So on these days they would speak and step softly for a few hours and didn't go near that door.
The two in the room knew this and silently thanked them, each making a mental note to be extra nice for the next few days. Then they ignored the world outside their haven, focused wholly on each other. One hand was in that small space between, fingers intertwined, while the seond brushed along the other's body, skin against skin.
It was both sensual and sexual but overall it was comfort. It was a way to confirm reality, that they were here and that this was real.
And in between lazy kisses and quiet murmurs of I love you, they smiled.
