Red Berry Smoothie

Lately, I've been having difficulty finding suitable liquids for making smoothies.

I've been finding most juices too sweet or not quite right somehow.

I don't like to use dairy milk in smoothies. I don't know why, I mean I consume milk in coffees and cereals and such but I feel weird about putting it in smoothies for some reason.

I try not to consume too much soy, plus I don't care what anyone says soy milk is fuckin' chalky no matter what flavor or brand.

Rice milk is too watery and basically has no nutrition.

Oat milk is pretty cool but I eat enough grains as it is.

Hazelnut milk is good in smoothies with nut butters or chocolate but not fruit ones, same goes for almond milk mostly.

Sometimes I have luck with hemp milk and sometimes I don't. I'm still trying to figure out what the best brands and flavors are.

I liked using kefir sometimes. I always used Nancy's because it was the only brand I ever found that had plain and fruit flavors with no added sweeteners. But Whole Foods stopped carrying it for some reason and all the other Kefirs are low fat and/or have sweeteners. :(

I haven't tried coconut milk in smoothies yet. Have any of y'all tried this? It sounds like it could be good but I'm a little scared.

I absolutely LOVE SoDelicious coconut milk yogurt but it is crazy crazy crazy expensive. My dad said if I give him some organic milk he will make yogurt for me. I don't know how he does it exactly but maybe coconut milk will work too. Need to look into that further. I was also obsessed with buffalo milk yogurt, which was also expensive and is another thing stupid Whole Foods stopped carrying. I also need to learn how to make paneer. mmmm.

So, I was pretty happy with this smoothie I made tonight.

Red Berry Smoothie:

Blend:
1 medium banana
1 small handful red raspberries
2 small handfuls strawberries
4 scoops plain, unsweetened whole milk yogurt
Enough of a mixture of 100% unsweetened cranberry juice (NO other juices added, NO sweeteners, NOT from concentrate) slightly diluted with water to reach desired consistency

This makes 2 largish servings.

This is good because 1) I've been trying to eat more yogurt cuz my gut has been bothering me a lot lately. 2) I used to have an extremely low tolerance for sugar but have become a sugar addict within the past year or so, I blame Mexico and all its panaderías. 3) Because of 1 and 2 I've been consuming copious amounts of ice cream. Like a pint a day. This takes care of that craving. The banana and yogurt are both sweet and creamy enough, plus I get anti-oxidants from the berries and the cranberry is good for the urinary tract (apparently dental plaque as well???)
