California or Bust

Last Friday my current animation contract ended so I have a month off before going back onto a new show. I'll be doing 3D for my next job so I'm entrenched in Maya for the next little while. The good thing about having time off is it gives me the wonderful opportunity to go to Califur. I'm pretty excited since the only other con I've been to was Conifur Northwest in Seattle back in 2003. I wasn't really into the social aspects of the fandom back then and just went with my girlfriend at the time. This time however I'll be taking the train down with about 5 local furs. It's a long trip, something like 35 hours to get down to LA from Vancouver but it should be fun. It also doesn't hurt that I have a huge crush on one of the people I'm going down with ^_^ Funny that a weekend con will be taking up 9 days in total but it's one of those rare opportunities and the timing worked out right. We'll be there a few extra days so I think we'll be hitting Disney Land while we're down there. It should be an adventure. I've been to Disney World several times but that's been many years ago now.

My soon-to-be-roomate Lunar was is in Vancouver this week visiting. I had only met him irl once before but since our first meeting we've chatted quite a bit online and hit it off very well. However after spending a day with him I'm seeing some potential personality conflicts. He's pretty much my complete opposite as far as the way he acts socially. While I'm very quiet and reserved he's pretty chatty. I really value my own space and privacy and he knows this so I hope it's not an issue. My fear is that he'll try too hard to be my friend once he moves in and eventually annoy me. I feel like an asshole even thinking that though because I know however he may act he means well. In any case I'm going to give this living arrangement a shot. If it doesn't work out I can always look for a one bedroom somewhere else; something I was initially going to do anyway.

I started playing Guild Wars again. Made a new character for the first campaign and am loving it. I can't believe I quit it for WOW. I felt like playing an MMO again but since I don't have a lot of time didn't want to spend the monthly fee. Guild Wars fit the bill perfectly. I picked up the latest issue of PC Gamer where they talk about the new expansion come out at the end of the year and Guild Wars 2 which will most likely be dropping at the beginning of 2009. Exciting stuff.

One last thing. I decided to change my fursona back to a raccoon. Months ago when I got back into the fandom I created a mouse fursona but now am feeling it's not the best fit. I don't know if a raccoon is much better for me but then it all feels a bit arbitrary anyway. And besides, raccoon are hella sexy and if that isn't a good enough reason to go with one I don't know what is ^_^
