First Class

I had my first drafting class tonight. It went ok, the instructor started the night taking us all to the bookstore so we could get our supplies. The damage wasn't too bad, around $50. I had my doubts about whether I could hack it since my math skills are awful but it looks like the CAD program I'm taking doesn't really get into the engineering side of things. However, the instructor said that there was no future in drafting, design is where it's at. I stayed behind at the end and asked him to clarify that, he said just specializing in CAD won't get me anywhere since it's only a tool and I wouldn't be designing the systems I'd be drawing up. He suggested something like machine engineering but for that I'd have to go to school full time for three years and first get my grade 11 physics and grade 12 math. Needless to say this isn't a direction I want to go in so I'm thinking of dropping the class and getting my money back. I've gone to college far longer than I would have liked so going back to school full time is out of the question. I'll need to think about it, talk to some people.
