This was written for
kpopvalentines 2012, and I'm not really satiesfied myself, because it was written in a rush. I have been so busy lately, I haven't had the time to write anything or watch any dramas, I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN MBLAQ'S HELLO BABY. Okay, enough whining. Without futher introduction, I present you the prompt;
teen top, l.joe/niel, "A half truth, like half a brick, is always more forcible as an argument than a whole one. It carries better.", any rating by
hotarumyst Niel knows very well that he has sex appeal.
He knows that when he walks by the TV while stretching like this, the entire couch of groupmates will drop their chins and stare open-mouthed.
He knows that liking his lower lip will make the noona fans go crazy.
But he doesn’t only know the obvious stuff; He knows how to incorporate sex appeal in everything he does, in every movement and every word. He knows that 30 seconds of intense eye contact will make most people fall in love with you.
But it doesn’t make L.Joe fall in love with you.
So Niel is lying awake at night, trying to figure out what he did wrong. He might not be the most handsome idol out there. He might not be the best singer either, the most fashionable or the funniest or smartest. He is not even the sexiest, but he is not half-bad at those things. He has been working hard and he has been achieving a lot.
On this night he realizes that it’s not because of anything lacking that L.Joe doesn’t fall in love with him. It’s because someone else is in their way.
The very next morning Niel deals with the problem by sitting down next to L.Joe on the couch, watching him zap through equally boring channels before breaking the silence; “G-Dragon has a girlfriend you know.” It’s not completely a lie. G-Dragon most likely has a girlfriend. He should have. But it’s not like Niel would know.
L.Joe’s body stiffens though and the way he looks at Niel is filled with emotions, completely different from anything Niel has seen before.
“Why would you tell me that?” he asks, suddenly far more dignified than he was just a moment earlier.
“Because you’re my friend and I don’t want to see you get hurt.” The answer flows out perfectly, it doesn’t even sound practiced or fake. Somehow it’s the truth as well. Even if it’s not all of the truth.
“You’re an idiot.”
This wasn’t how it was meant to happen. Not at all. Niel sits in the couch next to L.Joe, just staring at his group member zapping through more channels. His throat is suddenly dry and he starts to wonder if maybe there’s something wrong with him. Maybe he doesn’t have sex appeal at all. Maybe he can’t sing as well as he thinks. Maybe L.Joe can see all of his mistakes and flaws and hates him for them.
Tears are shaping in Niel’s eyes and his mind goes blank for long enough to let out what he is really thinking; “Why can’t I make you love me?!”
And finally L.Joe looks back at him, eyes huge with shock.
“You really are amazingly stupid.” He answers, then leans in and softly kisses Niel on the lips. They are slightly wet and taste like salt, but L.Joe doesn’t mind - he will always remember this moment as perfect.
“You can’t make me love you, because I already do. I already love you so much, Niel.”
