Thank God there are still medical students agitating for choice. On facebook, I found the group "Nursing Students for Choice." Bless you guys. They posted this article from sfgate.com, which makes me think that there's a little bit of hope.
State bill would let non-doctors perform abortions Under a bill that passed its first committee hearing Tuesday, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and physician assistants would be able to perform what is known as an "aspiration" abortion, which is the most common abortion procedure and takes place in the first trimester of a pregnancy.
Now, yeah, it's true that it's only passed a first committee meeting but it's a breath of--well, breathable air that somehow, somewhere, there are legislators not committed to restricting abortion or eliminating it altogether.
So all of you who can promote the furtherance of this bill, SB1338, please do so! Go California!
