Gah

My parents took us out for my birthday to a Japanese place that's in the strip mall a block away from us. (Said strip mall also has a B&N, Toys R Us, Blockbuster, and a fabric store....) It's called Tsubasa, and it's small and quiet. We were almost the only diners there.

So we ate some interesting food--chawanmushi, pickled cabbage (I think it was pickled cabbage), miso soup, shrimp tempura (which is never wrong). I had crab sushi, Pre-Teen had tuna rolls, Freakshow had tempura w/noodles. Baba Yaga had "Japanese curry" that I would
ve cheerfully traded everything for.

The low point of my evening was when I forgot and confused "Konichiwa" with "Domo...." Spouseman and Pre-Teen have not stopped snickering at me about it.

food, family
