Read This Before You Donate
I've noticed there are a few of you who have been moved by recent events to donate to Planned Parenthood. Which is understandable: Planned Parenthood is perhaps the biggest household name associated with abortion rights/birth control.
But there are many other organizations that are perhaps more deserving of the $$. Please, consider these organizations before you make that check out to PPH.
For example:
The Guttmacher Institute
Four decades after its creation, the Guttmacher Institute continues to advance sexual and reproductive health in the United States and worldwide through an interrelated program of social science research, policy analysis and public education designed to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate, promote sound policy and program development and, ultimately, inform individual decision making.
The Institute produces a wide range of resources on topics pertaining to sexual and reproductive health, including International Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, formerly known as International Family Planning Perspectives, the Guttmacher Policy Review and Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health.

The Mission of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice
The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice brings the moral power of religious communities to ensure reproductive choice through education and advocacy. The Coalition seeks to give clear voice to the reproductive issues of people of color, those living in poverty, and other underserved populations.
RCRC was founded in 1973 to safeguard the newly won constitutional right to abortion. The Coalition founders were clergy and lay leaders from mainstream religions, many of whom had provided women with referrals to safe abortion services before the Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v. Wade. The founders believed that there would be at most a ten-year struggle to secure the right to choose. In fact the struggle is far from over. It has changed and intensified, and the stakes are growing.
And perhaps most importantly,
The National Network for Abortion Funds
Every year thousands of women sacrifice food, risk eviction, and pawn their possessions in order to raise money for an abortion. Some are forced to continue the pregnancy, abandon their education, and stay trapped in poverty.
Women face these difficult situations because the government denies abortion funding to women in need.
The National Network of Abortion Funds was formed in 1993 to respond to this urgent problem. We are a network of over 100 grassroots groups in more than 40 states that help women pay for abortion services.
