[She embraces him tightly, warmth flowing through her at once again being able to hear him say those words to her, and at being able utter them in return to him as well.]
[The past week . . . yes, she had suffered, and grief had weighed upon her heavily. It was so painful to be parted from him, and while her work had kept her preoccupied, it had not stopped her from feeling so empty without him. She had lost so much in the past, and the thought of losing her beloved Mitsuhide hurts her the most. But, more than her own pain, her grief was worse because she knew that he was suffering--bearing the trials and hardships that he was destined to endure and to face for the sake of Japan. She wanted nothing but to be able to hold him again, not just for her sake but for his, to soothe his hurts and to give him strength . . . to bear everything with him . . .]
[She gazes up at Mitsuhide, her eyes limned with tears.]
I worried more for you, my love . . . I prayed that you were safe, and that you were alright . . . It hurt to be without you, and it hurt even more to be uncertain of your safety . . . I knew you would return to me soon, but it was so painful without you . . .
[She blinks back her tears, though they still spill from her eyes. A trembling sob passes from her lips, and she takes a moment to catch her breath.]
But for you to have borne a year . . . parted from me, and away from this, from that which we share together . . . and bearing everything you had to bear in that time . . . oh, Mitsuhide . . .
I wish that you didn't have to suffer that pain . . . but . . . I'm glad it's over now. I knew you would come back. I knew you would keep your promise. It's over now, and you're back, back here with me. I'm glad--so glad--to be with you again, Mitsuhide, beloved. And now, you can rest here with me.
[She would speak of the poisonings later. For now, they needed this. This reassurance, this closeness. A shuddering breath, and she embraces him even tighter, holding him close, so close to her, feeling his warmth, his presence, and reassuring him of her own, of her love.]

[Suffer that pain...]
[He blinks, a look of despair moving across his features for just a moment as his mind is caught in what is now the past. However, it disappears as quickly as it came, and he holds her even closer, focusing on her warmth. The present, and the future, is what matters.]
I am glad to be able to do so, love. It is wonderful to lay next to you again.
[A hand is raised to touch her cheek and wipe away her tears.]
[Megumi is quick to catch that look of despair, even through her tears, and as he draws her even closer she also tightens her embrace, a sob hitching in her throat. She cannot bear the thought of him pained, and her heart aches as she holds him tight, holds him close.]
Mitsuhide . . .
[She lets out a soft sob, trembling as he brushes her tears away.]
Yes . . . you are here . . . we are together . . . and we always will be . . . that is what matters . . .
I love you so much . . . Mitsuhide . . .
[She allows herself to cry a moment, letting the past week's grief drain away, simply lying in his embrace and holding him tightly in her arms.]

[He just holds her to him. There are no tears for him, not yet. Instead he just closes his eyes. The present, the future... to concentrate on that, and her, is what he needs right now.]
Megumi... it is really fine now...
[A soft sigh, and he just rests, comforting and seeking comfort.]
[She embraces him tightly, warmth flowing through her at once again being able to hear him say those words to her, and at being able utter them in return to him as well.]
