That was the second time I have found myself as a bird, due to the City's influence; though as a duckling I wasn't able to fly. Not that I was much better at it, as a night chough; I suppose that the shape does not come with commensurate knowledge of its use ( Read more... )

but can you make him sing?, thelxiepeia with her poisons and potions, duck duck goose, less talkative as a bird, powerswitch, post-curse, curse: unaffected, raven is awesome

It seems it may be nice to be a bird.

I think everyone dreams of it, if only when they are young. At least, so it seems in my whorl.

It sounds like a nice dream.

Have you never wanted to fly?

It would be nice.

I think so, too. I once met a Flier, though; and from what I saw, and what I have learned about them, I do not think I would be suited to flight.

A flier?

Yes-- ah, I suppose they are unique to my whorl. They serve Mainframe; they help it control the sun.

It sounds very interesting.

I suppose it's natural; lacking a frame for comparison.

Was your whorl much like this one, Carmine?

Yes, it was sort of like this... cities... lights and technology...

Though I'm more used to the rural areas, now, not the cities.

In those respects my whorl is not so different; we have less... mundane technology, one might say? Less things one uses every day. And there is less comprehension of the principles behind mechanisms.

I have lived in a city all my life; it must be peaceful to live some distance from one. Quieter.
