[VOICE POST]I remember watching the Fliers, as a boy, and wondering what it would be like to join them. What they were; how they hung, suspended, no greater than dragonflies. It was rather disorienting-- the City looks so different from above. I enjoyed the experience, though.

Well I'm pleased that you enjoyed that, at least! I turned into a lamb.

A lamb? That's an appropriate choice on the City's part, I think. How was it? Inconvenient I am certain.

Oh, it wasn't as bad as I'd imagine. Peter gave me lots of cupcakes!

That's a difficult sight to imagine.

I am very glad I didn't end up as someone's dinner, to tell the truth.

It's much harder to eat a bird than it is to eat a lamb.

I think that depends upon who is doing the eating, and how.

Well certainly no one would eat me!

Certainly not! Especially as you were with your brother.

A night chough, on the other hand, is an attractive dinner to any number of creatures.

Well I can imagine that a large cat might like to eat a small bird.

Indeed, and such creatures are well-suited to the task of catching birds.

Though perhaps the bird shall always have the advantage, as it can fly.

You don't have Fliers in your whorl, Lucy, do you? Men who fly, who are said to bring the rain and who manage the Sun? From what I can tell they are only in mine.

Oh, like angels?

What are angels?

Reply

lionesscouchant October 21 2008, 05:11:07 UTC
Well...they work for God. They have wings and they sing, and they protect people.

I've never known the Fliers to sing, but I know very little about them. It could be that they're similar. Do you often see angels in your whorl?
