I really need to update the progress of events in my journal more often. I believe I only mentioned that the Navy looked like an interesting prospect for my future. Since then, my recruiter ended up calling me and said if I was really interested, he'd like to get the ball rolling soon, so we did. I went up to the Boston Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Thursday to be medically and physically cleared to go into the service. After that, I chose a job that I'd like in the Navy, and, providing I pass RTC (Boot camp), will get that job and the benefits it entitles. I enlisted in the aviation avionics program, which guarantees me $50,000 from the Navy college fund (if I even use it). Depending on how I do, I'll either become an aviation electrician or aviation electronics technician, I believe. I might get to choose which one I want, though. I have been put into the Delayed Enlistment Program, which is the time where civilians transition into military life prior to Boot Camp. I think I might have to get in shape a little quicker than
sweetsongstress would like to keep up with, but that's ok - she doesn't need as much exercise or strength building. I found some exercises and plans to become fit easier in my DEP info book, which should help us both. I'm excited about this. While on DEP status, I'm granted access to Naval bases to use their equipment or take lessons there or whatnot. I want to check out the one in Newport, but am not quite sure exactly what I'd do. I wonder if I can bring people on base with me. I'll have to ask. I wonder who would want to go if I did. Anyway, I still have a lovely term paper looming over my head as I didn't quite do it yet, so I'll get that started soon. I also remembered I had a bit more work than I thought I originally did :-/.
I wonder if
sweetsongstress actually went running today. We were supposed to meet at 3, I believe, at Globe Park, but I didn't have my car at that time, and her phone's been busy all day - I wonder what's up with that. I mowed the lawn instead, so I should be all set. I'm glad she enjoys these running sessions; hopefully we can do a little more, and get a little faster in the next couple weeks.
Someone contacted me with the AIM name Starandsunareout, but I don't know who they are. The said they've been reading my journal - finally someone actually reads this thing, but I don't know anything about them. If this is you, can you please tell me who you are? I appreciate the IM, I just like to know who I'm talking to.
