an ok weekend

Well, I went to Congress this weekend. No, not the one in Washington D.C. It's actually called the Diocesan Youth Congress. Youth from all around the state gather for this Catholic event held at the Sheraton this year. Friday night was different from last year as the main performer/speaker didn't arrive until Saturday, so we had I think it was the musical Father Pat. play some songs for us. We basically did a few things called icebreakers to get to know each other a little better. I didn't find Friday night too fun as there wasn't as much peppy music associated with it. We didn't do much except a few games and walking around.

Saturday wasn't too bad, but not as good as last year. The performer wasn't going to do his normal Simon Says routine as he heard we did that last night; then Grace comes out with the comment "I won last night, and I can win again today..." or something like that, so he did it anyway. She ended up getting out on something she was supposed to get out the night before, but was given a second chance along with everyone else who got out on it. hehe not this time. She desired it, anyway. There was fairly good music, although I liked last year's better, and some half-descent food. The workshops, which were on a variety of Christian topics, were fairly informative but not as focused on the individual as I hoped. Oh well, I guess it's better that way. We had a mass with the Bishop, which I was coughing up a lung all the way through. ug, that was very bad - I managed to distract everyone around me, but I couldn't help it. There was a dance afterwards consisting of mainly rap songs I didn't know, which I had a lack of interest for. During the dance there was a "social" room with games and Karaoke in which I hung out for a while with my friends.

All in all, the weekend wasn't a total waste, but I think it could have been a lot better. As my friend said, it should be run more by youth and not all these adults as it is a Youth Congress - I didn't have as much fun as I hoped for.

I'd say more, but you're probably getting bored reading this anyway, and I'm falling asleep as I was every other time I tried to write this this week, so I'll stop here.
