Day 4 Special Olympics/Change For The Children #12daysofgiving

Dec 04, 2009 23:41

I was inspired by @ryanseacrest and his #12daysofgiving idea but I wanted to support charities that were important to me or local here. Thus December 1, 2009 is Day 1 for me and I will be donating to 12 different causes and organizations over the next 12 days. Links will be provided in case you wish to donate or learn more about any of these organizations. A little goes a long way. =)

Day Three:
Still honoring Change For The Children, today I chose another of the charities than CFtC works with:

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization[nb 1] dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. Special Olympics currently serves 3.1 million people with intellectual disabilities in more than 200 Programs in over 170 countries.

This is my sweet new dogtag from Change For The Children.

The Change for the Children Foundation [was started]to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed. And we think the best people to help children are their peers -- kids helping other kids who are a little less fortunate.
