Last night,
syz read Damian two books, and then said it was time for bed. Damian wanted another book read, and when
syz wouldn't read it, Damian brought it out to me (to try to convince me to read it). I told him it was bedtime, and one of us might have mentioned reading the book to him in the morning (not sure, but sometimes we do).
Flash forward to tonight, when both
syz and I had forgotten all about the incident last night. Even though
syz is almost always the bedtime story reader, tonight Damian said right off he wanted me to read his bedtime story. He ran right over to his bookshelf and pulled out the book from last night. This kid has a good memory now!
The book was
Llama Llama Mad at Mama, which features a little llama throwing a tantrum while out shopping with his mom. When we got to the page with the tantrum, Damian started whimpering and pointed to the drawing of the little llama throwing the tantrum. I paused to talk about it a little, and then we finished the book.
When we were done reading and
syz came in to say goodnight, Damian started talking about how the little llama had thrown a tantrum and made a mess.
It was obvious that after reading it, Damian was really thinking about what happened in the book - he talked about it for several minutes. We've read that book plenty of times before, but it was like Damian actually *got* it tonight. Of course, he has some experience with tantrums now. :p
