Oh, wow. That was absolutely lovely! I love your explanation for how L became the way he was. The church imagery is lovely, and the ending is perfect.

The only complaint I have is that the entire first part is in italics, which makes it a tad hard to read...

I put it in italics just to differentiate between past and present. It's more like L remembering what happened to him. Sorry of it was hard to read :(

Are you sure this is your first DN fic?! It's amazing! I love your interpretation of L's past. I had considered at length all the possibilities of what drove L to who he became, but yours is wonderful!
