Building A City Challenge - Week 1

Apr 09, 2012 19:55

. . . really, this is just my typical timing in taking shots, and Zydeco is not this snooty. Anyways, Zy would love to be General, but that's not likely to happen in his lifetime unless some drastic steps happen. So . . possibly. Anyways, rather than take a snapshot of yet another tiny home, I sent him straight along on the spouse hunt.

Which . .

. . Honestly, it isn't going too good.

This girl - Zydeco randomized up as straight - who has any chemistry with him, and it's only a single bolt.

A single bolt, and there seems to be some basic personality/interest problems. Most of the topics he brings up are being shot down, and while they chat . . okay . . . she shot down every single romantic action.

Well, that's okay. We can always try another day, and there's always walkbys!

Like this lovely bald lady! Who . . I have no idea who she is. But she is rocking the bald look. She might be a game-spawned townie, all things considered. And alas, she walked away before Zydeco could greet her.

And instead we had the welcome wagon - nobody eligible, but still potential friends and . . . well, the more friends when Zydeco starts his business, the better. Because Zydeco will be tackling a (pause for effect) Restaurant. And just that one business, for my sanity's sake.

And honestly, Zydeco wants to make friends.

That he's immediately feeding the two pregnant ladies amuses me greatly because originally, Zydeco was a female emergency medical android, with a huge database on and fondness for humans. And while not tactless, too new to have much a clue about social norms.

"Oh, that smells so good."
"Mm-hmm!"

Thankfully, no pregnancy-fueled death feuds here.

And since Zydeco has no table right now, everybody convenes on the couch to eat and chat. The soup is a hit! Conversation is a little rougher, but generally flows well.

After a compliment or two, everybody is gently shooed out the door. Because it's time to buy the property for the restaurant!

Weivtnasaelp's first restaurant! And because they're more expensive to build than the standard shop - considering bathrooms, the kitchen with that stove which costs quite a lot, a foyer to help guide in customers - we end up not opening up that day.

Nope, it was time to head home, and practice the fine art of lawn digging! The Restaurant needs more funds before it can open, and he needs funds to live on. He's not . . too successful, mostly digging up small items, bones, and rocks.

The next day, Tyra Bubbler walked on by. And I just had to see if there was any chemistry.

Well, a little . . at least, he thinks she's hot.

So a little socializing and play . . .

. . a little good food . . .

. . . only to get utterly shot down when it came to flirting. Whelp, her loss! Time to send her on her way.

Wait, what? How . . I don't even know.

Whatever. We have this hottie, Ramona Monty! Go, go get 'er Zy~!

Whoa, wait, what? Okay, not a bad turn-on to have in this neighborhood. And she's clearly digging him. A quick check of his panels proves that they have two bolts!

Awww, lawn dancing.

And fantastic conversations! But then she had to leave for some reason. Zy returned to his lawn excavation in a rather distracted way.

And had insta-meal for dinner. Why so glum, Zy?

"I want to see Ramona again."

And he really did - his wants panel was full of wishes to talk to, entertain, play with, and kiss her. So he called her up the next morning!

Smoochies and flirtings galore! And a white wolf that had major beef with them both for some reason. No matter how often they ignored him, or told it to shoo, it just wouldn't go and kept growling at them or trying to chase them. Just . . WTF, Wolf?

. . I don't remember putting that hot tub there. No, seriously, I don't remember putting that hot tub there. And this is Zydeco's first date.

They take advantage of it anyways.

After more digging and a good night's sleep, Zydeco has both a plan and an obsession - he desperately wants to fall in love with Ramona, and briefly rolled the want to be engaged before rolling the want to ask her on a date.

Let's hope she has a manageable LTW and an inclination to be faithful.

Well, Zydeco's determined!

This isn't proof that they became best friends by woohoo'ing. They became best friends by making out before woohoo'ing! Sometimes I love ACR.

A pleasant surprise, Ramona?

A post-coital celebratory honking . .

Which gives her one heck of a boost. Huh! Well, he's platinum, she's platinum, they're edging onto dream date status . . let's take the risk.

Victoly! Quick, while the iron's hot! Strike! Strike! Don't let her roll the fear of it!

C-c-combo!

And then you fall in love when he offers a backrub? . . you two are weird.

Well! Ramona Monty is now Ramona Cain, and has the LTW of becoming a Rock God. Unlikely, but maybe if they get the restaurant up to decent levels, they can try a dance studio. Eventually.

In the meantime, we're going to advantage of her high skill levels (Every townie got a randomized amount of skill points) and her infusion of funds to get that restaurant open~

Our first customer!

Ramona is handling the stove, and Zy is doing . . well everything else. And it's working pretty well!

However I wasnt' expecting to get our first reviewer within half a sim-hour of opening, and he was not pleased by the wait to be even greeted. But thankfully no bad review, just a brief dip in our low star rating.

But other than that, Zy's been doing really well.

And it turns out you can 'sell' customers on coming up and getting in line to sit down. It doesn't always go well though. Just leave 'em alone if they don't like the sales pitch, and usually they'll either go to the podium or leave.

I really have no idea what this lady's beef with Zydeco is.

By the evening we needed some help, so I hired Bigsby Monette! Who has . . . interesting taste in women. Anyways, until he gets married into a family, he'll be working as busboy/waiter here.

Because dis joint be hopping!

. . I don't remember getting a plate replacement. Maybe I should check the next time they serve a meal at home. Anyways, they eventually had to shut down the restaurant, but had earned two levels before heading home!

But there was plenty of cleanup to do first, and Ramona had been worse off, so I had Zy stay to clean. I . . wow. Avoid my attention once, get hit by lightning? Um. I installed a cheap shower in one of the bathrooms.

Yes, two levels and returning home in a victorious stink despite the new shower.

But a hot tub soak and some planning/flirting, they settled on another idea for a store.

Gala Groceries! With Frank cornering the fresh produce market, they can only go onwards and try to nab the basic groceries market. Canned foods, jerky, the like. Even salad dressing! Plus, it gives Ramona a chance to polish up her basic sales abilities and cash register skill.

By the next morning, the Grocery made a level, and she'd finally started picking up some speed in working the register, if not her first badge.

"Do we ever want to add onto the family?"

"I . . do you?"

Really, I'm leaving it up to them. I've set them both to a family limit of three in ACR, but it's up to them to take the final steps and actually try for a kid - which hadn't happened by the end of the week.

They ended up tithing exactly $9 in tax to the college fund . . monday is going to be full of digging when I swing back around to them. But that's the end of week one!

We've had one burglary, a grand total of $586 put into the college fun . . this is going to take me some time.

Lessee, eight community lots added, which brings my multiplier to . . 3? Times 16 sims for a population of 42. And if I'm reading this right, I've unlocked one freebie community building and eight CAS Sims.

bacc: week 1, weivtnasaelp, sims 2, bacc: cain, sims2
