[Drabble] Definition of Happiness & Thoughts

Apr 21, 2011 22:56

Lately, I've been in a contemplative mood. I know if it's because it's nearly summer--which is something I cannot stand, remind me why I am not in Alaska--but I also wonder if it's because I'm graduating this year and becoming a full member of society.

Anyways, to more cheerful topics? I am thoroughly enjoying 四つ葉神社ウラ稼業 失恋保険〜告らせ屋〜, with Shirota Yu and Fukuda Saki. Nevermind Shirota Yu, who I fangirl a lot. Fukuda Saki--I reeeeeeeally like her. I really liked her in Ghost Friends (with Nissy!), and in Quartet (with Yuya~ <3). She's really cute--I really enjoy watching her onscreen. And yes, this even includes LIFE.

Has anyone seen Kaze no Shounen, with Hiroki? :3 I just love this actor. He really has an interesting repetoire. From the evil (and complicated, so complicated) villain "J" in Bloody Monday, to the brash gangster-wannabe high school student Daichi in Yankee to Megane-chan (which I enjoyed immensely, so sad that this drama is over), to the warm-hearted Takumi in Ima Ai ni Yukimasu (and Nobu in Nana). I even remember him in Gokusen and in Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo 3, even though he had small roles then. Ahhhhhh....I'm such a fan.

Anyway~ I wrote a drabble~ I'll have you know--this is NOT the best of my writing. I'm not not happy about this one, but I feel this could be better. Ah, well, as long as it's finished? :) Please drop a comment about your thoughts on this one!

Title: Definition of Happiness
By: silentstar01
Category: Takumi-kun Series
Status: Complete
Chapters: 1

Author’s Note:

This fic is not the “fluffy” fic I had imagined it when I first started writing this. In any case, enjoy. And, surprise, in Akaike’s perspective…sort of?

Disclaimer: I do not own the Takumi-kun Series.

Definition of Happiness

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

Hayama looks up at his question, briefly startled. They had been quietly drinking coffee when he suddenly spoke. “Eh?”

Shouzo looks at him, and repeats his question. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Hayama’s eyes soften, and there is a faint smile playing at his lips. He knows exactly what Shouzo is asking. “Yes.”

“Hayama-”

“It’s not…that I don’t know what you’re concerned about, Akaike-kun.”

Shouzo is quiet, a little surprised at Takumi’s sudden interruption with his perceptiveness. But then, Hayam is usually so quiet, it isn’t easy to know what he was thinking.

When Gii tells him that he is taking Hayama back to New York, Shouzo is surprised. While he had been supportive of their relationship, he honestly didn’t-and still doesn’t-think that it would last long. He knows that Hayama would face many challenges-besides the obvious language difference-with the culture and the expectations society had of Gii, the soon-to-be owner of his family’s conglomerate. Society expects Gii to take a suitable bride and continue his family’s work. No one expects Saki Giichi to take a male lover, much less be homosexual (which he would be, in the eyes of society, once people find out about Hayama).

Hayama speaks again. “I know…it’s not going to be easy. After all, there will be many people who won’t approve of Gii and me.” His gaze sharpens with a glint of determination in his eyes. “But I want to stay by Gii’s side, no matter what.”

Despite his misgivings, Shouzo feels a smile tugging at his mouth. Beneath the illusion of frailty is a spine of steel and a quiet stubbornness that could not be extinguished. Hayama has indeed grown strong in the time he’s been with Gii.

“Akaike-kun.”

Shouzo looks up to see that Hayama is watching him. “What is it?”

“I’m…not doing this for Gii.” As if unsure of what to say, Hayama is quiet for a moment, and Shouzo waits.

“I’m doing this…to be happy.” Hayama’s smile is like the sun’s rays, bright and without shadows of doubt. “I’m very happy right now.”

Shouzo finds that even if he does have the words to try to dissuade Hayama, he doesn’t have the courage to say them in the face of such peaceful happiness.

Happiness is very different to everyone. This is true in Hayama’s case. The only thing he can do, at this moment, is to pray for Hayama and Gii’s happiness.
