Literary Overload!
So... I just left my meeting at the Bethlehem Area Public Library concerning my community Tutorship Program.
My baby is due in January!! We'll begin offering tutoring sessions as early as January 29th, although I hope to start as early as the 20th and I know we probably won't begin until February.
I have big dreams for my little baby! This past semester, I was the only tutor in the program that I designed... so, essentially, I conceived the program in fall of '06. In spring of '07 the program will include any number of tutors (plural is the important part) in reading and writing for K-12. We'll work out all the specifics, iron out the wrinkles, and hopefully smooth things out so the program can become a permanent fixture in the community. In fall of '07 we hope to begin incorporating other subject areas, by spring of '08 there will potentially be a program for adults. I hope the program will also spread to the South Side branch and am considering opening it up to other colleges etc.
I will help my baby grow and change! I plan to remain involved in this program long after graduation... In fact, I might even get some sort of degree that allows me to set up community tutoring programs in other places!! AHHHH!!!
