I had a really good day today. I actually applied for a new job. It is still at the college but I would be working for the college president as a part-time clerical assistant. Starting pay is around 15 to 16 dollars an hour. So I filled out the 6-page application and answered two essay questions and attached my resume and sent it out in the mail today. So we will see what happens with that.
I got to work today and informed my boss that I was applying for a new job, and she freaked out. I have been with Barbara for almost three years and she doesn’t want me to go, she asked me how much they would start at and I said around 15 dollars and then she said well if I match that will you stay with me? My jaw dropped down to the floor. She went on to say that she has been talking to the Dean of Admissions (her boss) about giving me a raise. I told her that I would totally stay with her if it came to that and the only reason I was job searching is because I want to make more money. I’m only at a little under 10 dollars right now and so a five dollar or six dollar increase in pay would be amazing. So I am hoping that Barbara will give me a raise and if not, then I hope I get this new job. It sounds challenging and exciting and most of all new. But I would be willing to stay at my same job if it came down to it. So we will see. I think good things will be coming my way though. I am trying to think positive about this.
Something else really interesting happened at work today as well. This guy that I have gotten to know fairly well over the past few months is trying to break into the modeling/film industry as well. It was so crazy because I showed him this picture that Quinn did of me, (the one below this entry) and she said wow, this is hot, have you ever thought of being a model. I said “funny you say that.” So we got to talking and what not and I told him about all the stuff I sent out last Thursday and I am waiting to hear back. Turns out that he is a photographer also and has been doing that for like ten years. Said he has a studio and all that, so maybe if I need to get a portfolio together he would help me out. He was in LA all weekend going to open calls and stuff. So we promised to keep each other posted on what’s happening in our search for fame! Haha right….
I have Spanish tonight…uhhh. I freaking hate Spanish. Aaron is coming to pick me up soon and we are going to my parent’s house to put in a kitchen lamp. It is going to be a surprise for my dad, because he was going to hire an electrician to do it, but Aaron is a total genius when it comes to stuff like that. I don’t know how Aaron knows how to do all that kinda stuff, he says it just comes naturally to him. So hopefully we can get it in before he comes home from work.
