"Take life as it comes..."

Aug 20, 2014 23:30

Today was a momentous day on a couple of counts, and I feel like I should make note of it before I go to bed.

First, a piece of good news: My clinical site hired me.  My first day was Monday.  It's been stressful because I still don't have a badge or a log-in of my own, which means I'm still relying on other people to log me in so I can room patients.  Except now I'm responsible for two providers, all on my own.  (What on earth did we do before computers?)  But anyway, the momentous bit:  Today I had my "Holy shit, I am now a healthcare professional" moment.  It came when we had to call an ambulance to transport a patient to the hospital, and when the paramedics got there, they asked ME questions.  ME.  I AM THE ANSWERER OF QUESTIONS ABOUT A PATIENT'S STATUS AND HISTORY.  WTF.

It was a world-shifting moment.

The other momentous thing was Tori Amos at the DPAC, my third ever Tori show.  I'm still gathering my thoughts about it, and will post more at a later date.
