Yesterday was so nuts, I only had a chance to jot down the mnemonics I was repeating to myself.
Ears: 4 blocks from home, I'm stopped at a red light and notice a fully kitted up motorcyclist going through the intersection with the green. They're riding a Serious Bike, and are dressed in black from head to toe, full protective gear and face helmet, and ... plush orange tiger ears mounted on the top of the helmet. They may even have been Tigger ears.
Suits: It was horribly hot and humid yesterday, 83F/28C with 97% humidity before the rain finally fell. I was feeling sorry for the motorcyclist, and then rode past a funeral home. Everyone was in full mourning, black suits and dresses, and I could practically see them melting in the heat.
Dog: Right after that, a man and his dog crossed the street in front of me. The dog looked a bit like a pit bull or bull dog, very stocky and low to the ground. It was intent on getting a drink from a puddle and didn't care that said puddle was in the middle of the street. I went around him.
Brass and beige: The car dealership at one of my turns has it's Mini's out on display again. "My" brass coloured one is back, it didn't sell yet. There was also a beige one with a colour scheme reminiscent of classic computers and Very Serious Medical Devices. I'd smile every day I drove the brass one, but the beige one would make me vaguely uncomfortable I think.
White and grey: The clouds were ponderous with water in the morning, great piling drifts in every shade from bright white where the sun managed to struggle through to dark grey. As I passed a radio station that doesn't usually register much with me, I noticed the white tower on top of the building, starkly contrasted against a dark grey cloud bank.
Shoulders: People are taking advantage of the heat to break out the sun dresses. One woman I passed was wearing a T-backed dress that showed off her perfect shoulders. Quite often I'll pass someone who I think is beautiful, or is wearing something that I admire, and I always wonder how I could phrase a shouted compliment. :) This morning, it was a woman in a floaty black skirt and a white halter top.
I packed up my panniers and my rack trunk this morning for the trip to Cape Cod, will be catching the 5:30pm ferry. Unfortunately, the weight was the last straw for my poor old kickstand. It's outlasted about 4 bikes by now, the wear on it is impressive, and this morning it just sheared off. :/ I was too early when I hit Cambridge Cycles, they weren't open yet, but I did get to ride a few blocks with
annabelle as a delightful recompense. :) I'll run out at lunch to pick up a new kickstand, and I've justified always carrying tools with me, though I bet I could sweet talk a wrench into lending me a screwdriver if need be.
If you've got any suggestions of things I Must Do in Provincetown this weekend, let me know, it's my first time heading to Cape Cod.
